Most visitors to Pillitteri Estates Winery at Niagara-on-the-Lake come to taste the icewine. I spent some time admiring the beautifully-appointed tasting rooms and shop and found this lovely Sicilian painted cart, or caretto, on display. The winery's founder left his native Sicily and moved to Canada, but he has never forgotten his Italian heritage.

Photos from our visit to the Bell Homestead in Brantford, ON. Alexander Graham Bell's parents owned this home and the surrounding farm. Here, in 1874, Bell first thought of the principle that would make the telephone a reality. Two years later, Bell made the first "long distance" telephone call from a telegraph office a few miles away to his parents' home.
